Matt Fossey

Matt has worked with the Centre for Mental Health for a number of years and has a background in social work, health services management and service improvement, and strategic development.

Working with colleagues at the Centre, Matt developed a nationally- and internationally-respected portfolio of work on liaison psychiatry and the impact of co-morbidity more generally.

Matt’s main areas of expertise are:

  • Strategic leadership
  • Understanding complex systems
  • Service development
  • Service redesign
  • Service evaluation

Working with the University of Leeds, he is a co-applicant for a major NIHR study of liaison psychiatry, where the Centre will be providing expertise in ensuring that project outcomes have impact in influencing both policy and practice.

Matt is also the Director of the Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University and he has written and researched extensively in this area. He is the Principal Investigator on 5 large research projects and has extensive national and international links including work with NATO and the WHO. He is on the board of trustees of two national military charities.
