Mental Health Challenge

Having run the Mental Health Challenge since 2012, securing Mental Health Champions in over 130 councils in England, we are delighted to have launched our new Mentally Healthier Councils Network. This new network has an even more ambitious mission, with everyone who works in councils, as well as councillors, invited to join and be part of this movement to improve mental health in all local areas.

We’re really proud of what the Mental Health Challenge has achieved and we continue to be inspired and motivated by the work that local councils are doing to implement mental health boosting policies in their communities.

From the Blackpool Beating Bullying campaign to Kent County Council creating a network of Sheds to reduce isolation, we’re excited to build on this great work through the Mentally Healthier Councils Network.

For more examples and advice on creating mentally healthier council areas, read our manifesto.
