Audit of Specialist Mental Health Supported Employment in England

12 May 2017

NHS England and the NHS Benchmarking Network, along with Centre for Mental Health, are undertaking an audit of all specialist mental health supported employment services in England.

We want to create a complete picture of all existing services to identify the gaps. If you are a provider of a specialist employment support service for mental health service users, Centre for Mental Health needs your involvement in this national audit.

The audit will establish a national baseline position for mental health employment services and also help in understanding the extent of variation that exists in current provision arrangements, and in the identification of good practice. As set out in Implementing the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health, NHS England will be inviting bids from STP footprints in 2017/18 for targeted investment in expansion of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services from 2018/19 onwards, to achieve the aim of doubling access by 2020/21.

Understanding the current picture of provision of services will create opportunities for organisations to come together, with their local STP partners, to develop their local plan for expansion and their bid for investment.

Project participants will receive a detailed report that compares your organisation’s services against those available elsewhere in England. The data and analysis in this report will respect the anonymity of individual participant organisations. Reports will be issued in September 2017 in time for providers to develop local service expansion plans in collaboration with STP partners.

To take part please contact Zoe Morris for a copy of the project’s data collection template and specification which should be completed as appropriate and returned to the NHS Benchmarking Network team by 30th June.
