Centre for Mental Health Event_101

The Centre celebrates the work of our Chair, Lady Elizabeth Vallance

24 October 2018

After 8 years of hard work leading Centre for Mental Health, Dr Elizabeth Vallance (The Lady Vallance) JP steps down as Chairman today.

Lady Vallance has steered the Centre through a time of significant change, both as an organisation and for the wider mental health arena. Under her leadership, the Centre has had a transformative impact on mental health policy and practice, and has contributed significantly to the rising political profile of mental health.

In celebration of her dedication to mental health and her visionary leadership of the Centre, we gathered a few of the Centre’s friends to reflect on her Chairmanship.

Our work is about changing people’s lives and changing society. Elizabeth’s leadership has enabled us to do that throughout the last decade, and we are determined to build on her legacy to get closer to equality for mental health in the years to come

Sarah Hughes, Chief Executive

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to follow Elizabeth as chair of the Centre and determined to build on her extraordinary legacy. Working with Sarah and her talented and committed team, I hope we can continue to make a difference to people’s lives nationwide

Dame Professor Sue Bailey

Elizabeth has been an extraordinary force for good, and I know she will continue to work tirelessly to support people with mental health problems and other complex needs in the future.

Rt Hon Lord Bradley PC
