Coproduction training for NHS funded IPS services in England

Date: 26 March 2025

Timings: 09:15 – 16:30 with regular breaks and an hour for lunch

Delivered: Live-online via Zoom

Price: This course is funded by NHS England, therefore there is no direct charge to NHS funded IPS services in England.

About this course

Thanks to funding from NHS England, we have partnered with IPS Grow to introduce this training.

This course is designed for team leaders and service managers in NHS funded secondary mental health services. It explores coproduction practice to ensure the voice of service users are included in service design and delivery. Participants will gain practical knowledge and skills to effectively engage and work alongside our clients as people with lived experience (PWLE), ensuring their voices are integral to service development and delivery.

The training will cover:

What is coproduction?

  • Understanding the principles and significance of coproduction.
  • Exploring the benefits of involving clients and other people with lived experience in decision-making processes.

Recruiting People with Lived Experience (PWLE)

  • Strategies for recruiting PWLE.
  • Highlighting the benefits to PWLE of becoming involved in coproduction.

Best Practices in working with PWLE

  • Setting up and managing a local panel of PWLE.
  • Addressing reimbursement and payment issues.

Key coproduction topics

  • Effective recruitment panels.
  • Developing and utilising case studies.
  • Creating service user-friendly materials.
  • Engaging speakers with lived experience.

Course Format: This training will be delivered through a combination of interactive workshops and practical exercises, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. We will encourage participants to create an action plan to take forward after the training.

Eligibility and how to apply

As this course is funded by NHS England you will need to be a team leader or service manager in an NHS trust delivering an IPS service for people in secondary mental health services. This course is open to both NHS staff and third sector providers.

Cancellation policy

Please only apply for the cohort in which you can attend all dates. Once we have received applications we will begin offering places and ask you to confirm your attendance.

As places for this course are limited and in high demand, we ask that you do not cancel your place without justifiable reason once you have confirmed. If you do cancel, we are unlikely to be able to offer you a place on a future cohort.

In the unlikely event that Centre for Mental Health needs to cancel a course, delegates will be offered a guaranteed place on the next available course.

Completion of the application form indicates your acceptance of these terms.
