About this course

Are you looking to develop your approach to employers? Are you looking for ways to continue the conversation even if an employer advises you to visit their company website to apply for jobs, or simply said “we’re not hiring right now”?

This course teaches techniques and skills in how to approach employers and build relationships to enable you to develop jobs on behalf of your IPS clients.

This course is ideal for anyone supporting IPS clients into employment including: employment specialists, supervisors, occupational therapists and vocational support workers.

The training will cover:

  • Planning your engagement
  • Developing your introduction to employers
  • How to use the “three cups of tea” method effectively
  • Activities to practice and develop your introductory statement
  • How to talk about the benefits of your IPS service to employers
  • How to progress meetings onto the next stage
  • Small vs large businesses
  • Job placement vs job development
  • Managing employers’ concerns via role play scenarios
  • Sharing personal information with employers (disclosure)

Testimonials:

“[As result of the training] I will engage in meaningful conversations with employers without overthinking it in my head.”

“[As a result of the training] I’ve already scheduled a face-to-face meeting with a company. I wouldn’t typically pin down a follow up date, this is something I’m going to always do moving forwards and can see how this will allow for the foundations of good working relationship to develop”

“All of it was extremely useful, the main point was writing a statement for the first EE visit and not coming on too strong, just be breezy and complimentary.”
